How often do users need to update their app? Is it automatic?

This is only needed when a change is made or a new feature unveiled. These are pushed automatically, so the user doesn’t have to do anything as long as they have auto-updates set up on their phone.

What level of permissions does your community get? Can this be changed individually for specific needs?

Your access permissions can be set according to the needs of your own community. You can easily restrict certain content to selected members, and if necessary limit interactions, or hide people from each other.
